Abstract

Jatropha curcas contain among others alkaloids, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, steroids, glycosides, phenol compounds and flavonoids that scattered in the leaves, bark, fruit, and roots. The content of metabolite compounds in Jatropha curcas can be used as an antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticancer, and anti�inflammatory, etc. This journal review of Jatropha curcas aims to identify the various compounds and pharmacological activities of Jatropha curcas. One of the literature review methods used in this study is narrative review. Data collection is carried out by studying reading materials in e-books, theses, scientific journals, electronic journals, and other literature relating to Jatropha curcas. The results of this journal review indicate that Jatropha curcas have active compounds contained such as flavonoids, phenolics, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, steroids, terpenoids, triterpenes, essential oils. Jatropha curcas are also proven to have pharmacological activities as antioxidants, antidiabetic, anticancer, anti�inflammatory, analgesic, immunomodulatory, as well as antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
