Abstract

Robusta coffee (Coffea robusta Lindl. Ex De Willd) is a medicinal plant that has been proven to have antioxidant activity. The direct use of robusta coffee leaf extract is considered less practical, so it is made in gel form. This study aims to determine or test the antioxidant activity of robusta (Coffea robusta Lindl. Ex De Willd) coffee extract gel with DPPH method, to find out how much antioxidant activity of extract and robusta extract(Coffea robusta Lindl. Ex De Willd) and to find out robusta coffee ectract (Coffea robusta Lindl. Ex De Willd) can be made in gel from that has good physical quality. The research was started by extracing robusta (Coffea robusta Lindl. Ex De Willd) coffee leaves with maceration method using 96% ethanol. The extract is then made into a gel preparation with different concentrations of 1,5%, 2%, 2,5%, 3% and 3,5% and then physical quality is tested where all formulas have good physical quality and stability because all test result are still entering the range of physical quality test preparations. Antioxidant analysis was performed using the DPPH method that IC50 values were calculated. The data obtained were analyzed by one way ANOVA. The results showed robusta coffee leaf extract gel has the highest antioxidant activity is five formula because it has the highest concentration that is concentration 3,5%. keywords: Robusta coffee leaf, Extract Robusta coffee leaf Gel, Antioxidant, DPPH, IC50
