Abstract
Memory loss is caused by oxidative stress (ROS). Patikala (etlingera elatior (jack) r.m.sm) contains active flavonoid compounds which are thought to improve memory because it can regenerate damaged neuron cells due to free radicals. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethanol extract of patikala leaves (etlingera elatior (jack) r.m.sm) on memory improvement. This study used a sample of 25 male white mice which were divided into 5 groups, positive control (Ginkgo Biloba 75mg / 70kgBB), negative control (CMC Na), ethanol extract of patikala leaf doses of 42, 84, 168 mg / kg BW. The treatment dose was given in the first 12 days before induction of lead (II) acetate with a dose of 140 mg / kg BW for mice. For 12 days before and after pain induction, a performance test was performed using a radial arm maze. The parameters observed were the type B error rate and the time to find food and the AUC calculation. These parameters were analyzed using SPSS version 26 to determine the differences in each treatment group. The AUC results:% error type B at exstrac dose of 168 mg / kg BW obtained a significance value of 0.183 and AUC when finding food obtained a significance value of 0.211 where this result has no significant difference with the positive control used, from these results it can be concluded that the extract with a dose of 168 mg / kg BW can improve memory of mice because it is comparable to the positive control ginkobiloba..
