Abstract

Infection is a disease caused by the body being exposed tomicrobes, then they grow and trigger disease. Many antimicrobial agents have developed resistance. Plants have a number of active compounds as antibacterial which are much more complex in nature, making it difficult for microbes to form a resistance system. This study aims to check and prove the antibacterial activity of the combination of the ethanol extract of papaya leaves and binahong leaves, the ratio of the effective dose combination and the effect of the extract combination on Staphylococcus aureus. This research was carried out by extracting binahong leaves and pepaya leaves by maceration using 96% ethanol solvent. The extracts were combined with a comparison of papaya leaves and binahong leaves (1:1), (1:2), and (2:1). Then tested for antibacterial activity by well diffusion method and the result will be analyzed using statistical analyzed spss 22. The result showed that the combination test of ethanol extract of papaya leaves and binahong leaves had antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with a high gasket average of 19,22 mm at a combination of 1:2. Literature study shows the effect of differences in the mechanism of action between the active compounds in the combination of papaya leaves extract and binahong leaves against Staphylococcus aureus so that it is sinergis.
