Abstract
Antioxidants are used to prevent the effects of free radical exposure on the body. Plants that have been studied as antioxidants are the rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) rind extract. Body butter is a semi-solid preparation that has the highest proportion of oil and is designed to be applied to the skin. Ethyl acetate fraction, water fraction, and rambutan rind extract (Nephelium lappaceum L.) formulated as body butter cream were tested for their antioxidant activity which was previously evaluated on body butter cream preparations. Three samples, the results were the same, namely light brown color, smell of lavender, semi-solid consistency and had a homogeneous arrangement. The pH test of the three formulas is in accordance with the requirements of the 2017 Indonesian National Standard, which is in the range 4-8. The viscosity test showed that the addition of extract or fraction did not affect the viscosity of the preparation. The spreadability test of the 3 formulas according to the requirements, namely 5-7 cm. The adhesion test of the 3 formulas according to the requirements is more than 4 seconds. The stability test of the 3 formulas was declared stable because they did not separate in 6 cycles of storage. Antioxidant activity in F1 has an IC50 value of 40.969, F2 of 37.62, and F3 of 34.541 with the one-way ANOVA statistical test results obtained by sig 0.00 <0.05 so that the addition of extracts and fractions on the preparation affects the IC50 value and has a difference Significant. Key words: (Nephelium lappaceum L.), Antioxidant, body butter, DPPH
