Abstract

The utilization of aloe vera it’s ot just a houseplant but also as a medicine and the raw materials of the cosmetic industry. Aloe vera contain chemical compound such as mucopolysaccharide can bind the moisture of the skin., enhance fibroblast which produce collagen and elastin makes the skin so elastic. The objective of this study are to develop a soothing gel formula and knowing the effects of aloe vera juice concetration as active matter in the soothing gel aloe vera juice. This study begins with making aloe vera juice using modification extraction then formulated 3 different concentration of aloe vera juice that is 40%, 50% and 60%. Evaluating of formulation consists of organolepty, homogenity, pH, viscosity, spreadability, stickiness, skin irritation tes, hedonic test and stability. The result show that the preparation were homogeneous had pH value between 5,09-5,88, viscosity 15-51 dPas, spreadability 3,4-6,9 cm, stickiness 0,28- 0,82 seconds, did not irritate skin, unstable in storage, much liked by respondents. Conclusions of this study aloe vera juice can be formulated into soothing gel that fulfills the physical quality and safety of preparation.and different concentration of aloe vera juice influence in physial quality aspects consisting pH, stickiness, spredability, viscosity, stability but does not significanty affect the safety.
