Abstract
Drug Combination is the administration of two drugs simultaneously which can affect their efficacy. Inflammation can be treated with antiinflammatory drugs such as diclofenac sodium. Inflammation treatment with herbal medicine for example turmeric rhizome which contains curcumin as antiinflammatory. This study aims to determine the pharmacological effect of antiinflammatory in male rats due to the effect of drug combinations. This research is experimental. 30 male rats were randomly grouped into six groups. group I negative control CMC Na 0.5%, group II sodium diclofenac 4.5 mg/kg BW rats, group III turmeric rhizome extract 400 mg/kg rats, group IV combination dose I diclofenac sodium 4.5 mg/kg BW rats and turmeric rhizome extract 100 mg/kg BW rats, group V combination dose II diclofenac sodium 4.5 mg/kg BW of rats and turmeric rhizome extract 200 mg/kg BW of rats, group VI combination dose III sodium diclofenac 4.5 mg/kg BW rats and turmeric rhizome extract 400 mg/kg BW rats. All groups were given their suspension, one hour later induced with 1% carrageenin. Measurement edema volume before and after carrageenin induced every 60 minutes for 6 hours. Total AUC and % DAI parameter that describes the anti-inflammatory activity in the treatment group. The results of statistical analysis using ANOVA test the combination dose III group (diclofenac sodium 4,5 mg/kg BW and turmeric rhizome extract 100 mg/kg BB) showed a better anti-inflammatory effect than a single dose of diclofenac sodium and turmeric rhizome extract. Keywords: anti-inflammatory, combination, diclofenac sodium, turmeric rhizome extract
