Abstract

Colorants are an important part of cosmetics, including lip cream preparations. Red roses (Rosa damascena Mill.) are widely used as natural dyes. By utilizing natural pigments contained in red roses, the researchers formulated lip cream preparations. This study aims to determine whether red rose flower extract (Rosa damascene Mill.) can be made into natural dye for lip cream preparations and which formula has good physical quality and stability and to determine whether red rose flower extract (Rosa damascene Mill.) and lip cream with natural dyes red rose extract (Rosa damascene Mill) has antioxidant activity as a lip cream preparation. Preparation of lip cream preparations of red roses (Rosa damascena Mill) was carried out by extracting red roses using 96% ethanol with the maceration method and testing its physical quality including homogeneity test, organoleptic test, pH test, viscosity test, smearing power test, melting point test, dispersion test, and stability test. The antioxidant activity test method is the DPPH method. The results of the physical quality of lip cream preparations were tested using SPSS one way ANOVA. The results showed that the red rose flower extract (Rosa damascena Mill) can be made into a natural colorant for lip cream preparations with good physical quality and stability with the best formula formula 1. The ethanol extract of red rose flower (Rosa damascene Mill) has antioxidant activity of 64.55 ppm. The antioxidant activity of formula 1 was 50.99 pm; formula 2 is 59.31 ppm; formula 3 is 58.66 ppm and formula 4 as a base for lip cream is 68.38 ppm.
