Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease with a characteristic hyperglycemia, caused by abnormalities in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Hyperglycemia is a condition in which blood glucose levels increase. Indonesia ranks as the 10th country with the largest number of diabetes mellitus patients in the world, namely 7,3 million people. The purpose of this study is to determine the profile of insulin use and the rationality of insulin use in diabetes mellitus patients at the Inpatient Installation of ‘Aisyiyah Ponorogo hospital in 2020. This research includes non-experimental descriptive studies with retrospective data collection. This study was conducted by collecting medical record data of BPJS diabetes mellitus patients with or without comorbidities to see insulin usage profiles. Data analysis was carried out based on PERKENI in 2021, ADA in 2021, and Practical Guidelines for Insulin Therapy in Diabetes Mellitus Patients (PAPDI 2011). The results of a study of 82 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at RSU 'Aisyiyah Ponorogo in 2020 received antidiabetics in the form of single insulin. The single insulin that is widely used is the short acting type of insulin as many as 45 patients (54.88%). The rationality of insulin use shows the right patient indication by 100%, the right patient by 100%, the right drug by 92.68% and the right dose by 69,51%.
