Abstract
Kenikir plants (Cosmos caudatus Kunth) is a plant that grows a lot in Indonesia. The antioxidant content in kenikir leaves can prevent tissue damage that stimulates the wound healing process such as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins and tannis. This study aims to determine whether kenikir leaf extract can be formulated for gel preparations that meet the physical quality test and which formula is more effective for the speed of wound healing on rabbit backs. The research method used was maceration of simplicia kenikir leaves with 96% ethanol, then made into a gel preparation. In the evaluation of the gel preparation organoleptis tests, pH tests, homogeneity, adhesion, dispersion, viscosity, dan stability tests were carried out. Then proceed to testing the activity on the speed of wound healing using 5 male rabbits that were given 5 treatment, namely the application of formula 1 (given 7,5% kenikir leaf extract gel), formula 2 (given 15% kenikir leaf extract gel), formula 3 (given 22,5% kenikir leaf extract gel), Moist Expoxed Burn Ointment (MEBO) as a positive control and gel base as a negative control. The results showed that all kenikir leaf extract gel formulas had good physical quality and stability and had wound healing activity on the rabbit's back. The results of the most effective wound healing activity test was formula 2 with a percentage reduction in wound length similar to the positive control.
