Abstract
The total plate number test is a number that shows the number of mesophyll bacteria per 1 ml or 1 gram of sample used. Cadmium is commonly used in cosmetics as a dye, namely as an orange or yellow pigment. The purpose of this study was to determine the total plate count test, determine the type of microbes, and determine the levels of cadmium (Cd) using the atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AAS) method. The research design is a laboratory experimental research using qualitative and quantitative analysis. Bleaching cream is obtained from the market in Kediri district. Sampling was carried out randomly which had not been registered with BPOM. This research was carried out by preparing the media, diluting the sample, determining the number of bacterial colonies, and further testing using biochemical tests. Determination of cadmium levels was carried out by organoleptic tests, preparation of calibration curves, sample preparation, and determination of cadmium levels. The ALT results during the 24-hour incubation period all samples that not exceeded the BPOM safety standard limits. The type of bacteria found in the sample is Bacillus sp. The results of determining cadmium levels were below the BPOM safety standard limits, namely 0.2261 ppm; 0.3948 ppm; 0.2157 ppm; 0.5479 ppm; and 0.9389 ppm so that it can be used, but it is in the long term it will be harmful to the body.
