Abstract

Isomyristicin is the result of isomerization myristicin, which isomyristicin stand at the same group as myristicin. Isomyristicin reported to have the same biological activity as myristicin and one of them is antidepressant activity. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of antidepressant and the optimum dose of isomyristicin compound to decrease the immobility time of male white mice (Mus musculus). The sample in this research is isomyristicin. This research used 30 male white mice which were divided into 6 groups. Each group consisted of 5 mice which were made as normal control, negative control, positive control, dose 1,5 mg/Kg BW, dose 3 mg/Kg BW and dose 6 mg/Kg BW. Forced Swimming Test (FST) used to measure the immobility time and to induced the depression using a Tail Suspension Test (TST). Test the normality distribution with the Saphiro Wilk test and continued with the One Way ANOVA test. The results showed that the dose of isomyristicin 1.5 mg/KgBW of mice was an optimum dose because the smallest dose was comparable to the positive control of amitriptyline 3.25 mg/KgBW of mice. The ability of isomyristicin to reduceimmobility time in the 1.5 mg/Kg BW group of mice showed a difference with normal controls and negative controls and there was no difference with positive controls with a sig value. p(>0.05) on LSD analysis. Keywords : isomyristicin, antidepressant, immobility time
