Abstract

Layout is one of the components that must be considered in efforts to increase work productivity. Layout that doesn’t pay attention to the flow of production process will certainly greatly affect the productivity of the production process. CV. Krudut Leather Furniture is a company engaged in the manufacture of chairs. So far, the layout of production facilities at this company has not been carried out based on planning but only adjusts to the existing space, so that the layout become irregular. Irregular facility layout can result in material handling costs, moving distances and production time being large. Therefore, this study aims to produce a proposed layout design that can minimize material handling costs, moving distances and production time. Data processing was carried out using the CRAFT algorithm method and two alternative proposed layout results were obtained. The second proposed layout alternative was chosen as the proposed layout because it has the most optimal results. The iterations carried out in the alternative layout proposed two are exchanging the frame and varnish painting work stations with the refining work stations so that the resulting reduction in OMH is 79%, displacement distance is 80% and production time is 30% from the initial layout.
