Abstract
INTISARI Masyarakat cenderung memilih pengobatan herbal karena dianggap lebih aman dan alami, terutama selama pandemi dengan meningkatnya minat pada jamu tradisional. Namun, kontaminasi logam berat, seperti timbal (Pb), dari lingkungan dan proses industri menjadi masalah kesehatan yang serius oleh karena itu tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mengnalisis penggunaan adsorben tempurung kelapa dalam mengurangi kontaminasi Pb dengan menggunakan metode Destruksi Basah Metode penelitian dimulai dengan pengambilan sampel Jamu Asam Urat di Kecamatan Sampung, Kabupaten Ponorogo, menggunakan teknik random sampling. Analisis dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas arang tempurung kelapa dalam mengurangi kontaminasi logam berat timbal (Pb) dan menentukan kondisi optimal proses adsorpsi. Sebanyak 17 run eksperimen dirancang dengan variasi pH, waktu kontak, dan kadar adsorben untuk mengidentifikasi kombinasi terbaik dalam memaksimalkan penurunan kadar Pb. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa optimasi penurunan logam berat timbal (Pb) mencapai hasil terbaik pada run ke-4, dengan %penurunan sebesar 87,76%. Penggunaan arang tempurung kelapa sebagai adsorben dalam kondisi optimal yang ditentukan melalui pendekatan Design Expert berhasil secara signifikan mengurangi kadar Pb dalam jamu asam urat. ABSTRACT People tend to prefer herbal remedies because they are considered safer and more natural, especially during the pandemic when interest in traditional herbal medicine has increased. However, heavy metal contamination, such as lead (Pb), from environmental and industrial processes poses a serious health risk. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze the use of coconut shell charcoal as an adsorbent to reduce Pb contamination using the Wet Destruction method. The research methodology began with the collection of Uric Acid Herbal Medicine samples in the Sampung District, Ponorogo Regency, using random sampling techniques. Analyses were conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of coconut shell charcoal in reducing lead (Pb) heavy metal contamination and to determine the optimal conditions for the adsorption process. A total of 17 experimental runs were designed with variations in pH, contact time, and adsorbent concentration to identify the best combination for maximizing Pb reduction. The results showed that the optimization of lead (Pb) reduction achieved the best outcome in the fourth run, with a reduction percentage of 87.76%. The use of coconut shell charcoal as an adsorbent under optimal conditions, determined through the Design Expert approach, successfully and significantly reduced Pb levels in the uric acid herbal medicine.
