Abstract
Hypertension is a degenerative disease characterized by an increase in blood pressure. Green cincau leaves contain flavonoid compounds, saponins, tannins and alkaloids that can lower blood pressure in the body. The purpose of this study is discovering and establishing the effects of ethanol extract of green cincau leaves (Cyclea barbata Miers) and the most effective dose in lowering blood pressure in rats. This study use 25 male wistar strain white rats divided into five test groups and each group consist of 5 male wistar strain white rats. Group I are negative, group II are positive, group III with dose 40mg/Kg BB of green cincau leaves ethanol extract, group IV with dose 80 mg/Kg BB of green cincau leaves ethanol extract, group V with dose 120 mg/Kg BB of green cincau leaves ethanol extract. The measurement of animal test using non-invasive method with Tail Cuff then measuring blood pressure before induced (T0), 5 min after induced (T1) and 10 min after treatment (T2). Animal testing according to treatment group for 30 days. The result of this study showed that green cincau leaves ethanol extract (Cyclea barbata Miers) has an influence in lowering the blood pressure in male wistar strain white rats. The most affective dose in lowering the blood pressure is 120 mg/ Kg BB. Keywords: Antihypertensives, green cincau leaves (Cyclea barbata Miers), Tail Cuff.
