Abstract

Hyperlipidemia is a condition in which the increase in levels of all lipid fractions in plasma, especially triglicerides and cholesterol. Triglycerides are use in the body to provide energy for various metabolic processes. Triglycerides can cause blockage of blood vessels. The alternative in decreasing triglyceride levels and to determine the effective dose of pepino fruit that can reduce triglyceride levels in male white rats. The pepino fruit was extracted using a maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. The study was devided into 6 groups, normal group, negative group CMC Na 0,5%, positive group gemfibrozil, pepino fruit extract 500 mg/Kg BB, 1,702 g/Kg BB, 3.404 g/KgBB. The data obtained were analyzed by ANOVA test, then used Tukey test to the difference between groups. The results of this study showed that the most effective dose of pepino fruit extract decreased blood serum triglyceride levels of mice at doses of 1.702 g/Kg BB capable of reducing triglyceride levels in proportion to positive controls of 33,64%. The flavonoid compounds contained in pepino fruit are thought to have an antihyperlipidemia effect. Keywords: Triglyceride levels, Solanum muricatum Aiton, Hyperlipidemia
