Abstract

Hylocereus polyrhizus rind containing tannin, flavonoid and saponin compounds that can reduce triglyceride and total of cholesterol by increasing activity of lipoprotein lipase. This study aims to determine the effective dose of Hylocereus polyrhizus rind extract that can reduce triglyceride and total of cholesterol levels, in rats that givenwith diet of fat and PTU induction. This research uses 30 male white rats that divided into 6 groups. Normal group, hyperlipid group, simvastatin group, dose group 40 mg / 200 gram weight rats, dose group 80 mg / 200 gram weight rats, dose group 160 mg / 200 gram weight rats. In this study, serum triglyceride levels measured with (GPO-PAP) method and total of cholesterol measured with (CHOD-PAP) method. The measurement of the the level were done at day 0, day 14 and day 28 The research results show that extract ethanol the rind of Hylocereus polyrhizus lower the levels of triglyceride and total of cholesterol in the rats who where given induction PTU and feed diet high in fat. The most effective dose in lowering triglyceride and total of cholesterol levels is 80 mg / 200 gram weight of rats.
