Abstract
Infectious disease caused by Staphylococcus aureus is the leading cause pyogenic infections (pus) with typical signs that inflammation and the formation of asbestos. Treatment of infectious diseases can use modern medicine and traditional combined. This study was aimed to determine the activity of the combination of essential oils of Ocimum basilicum L. and Citrus hystrix which efficacious as an antibacterial against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. The method used in this study was the diffusion. The concentration used in diffusion were 50% with a ratio the combination of Ocimum basilicum L. and Citrus hystrix (1: 1; 1: 2; 1: 3; 2: 1; 3: 1). The data obtained were processed with statistical analysis Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) with a two-track method, so the significance of the results obtained from these data. The results of disc diffusion test with the most effective combination of Ocimum basilicum L. and Citrus hystrix was a ratio of 1:1 and 1: 3 with diameter average of 16,96 ± 0,6806. Based on the test results of the activities that have been done, giving a combination of essential oils of Ocimum basilicum L. and Citrus hystrix could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923. Keywords: Antibacterial, Staphylococcus aureus, Combination, Essential Oils, Ocimum basilicum L. and Citrus hystrix.
