Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia associated with abnormalities of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism caused by decreased insulin secretion . This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa, decreased blood glucose levels and polyherbal combination activity in diabetic ulcer healing in STZ-NA-induced rats. This study was conducted using 10 test animals each test group consisted of 5 mice groups: group 1 as a normal control, negative control group II (vaseline, CMC 0.5%, petroleum jelly and CMC 0.5%), Group III positive control group (Glibenclamide, Nebacetin, Glibenclamide & Nebacetin), group VI treatment control (oral), group VII as treatment control (topical), group VIII as treatment control (oral and topical combination). All test animals were induced with STZ 45 mg / kg BW and NA 110 mg / kg BB except in the normal group. The results showed that treatment control (oral and topical combination) with dose of 150 mg / kg BB can decrease glucose level, and can affect the ulcer skin tissue injury in DM male rats. Keywords : Antibacterial, Antidiabetes, poliherbal combination, diabetic ulcers, STZ-NA.
