Abstract

Piroxicam is a drug that is very difficult to dissolve in water and is an analgesic drug used in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain that requires treatment with rapid action. Therefore, piroxicam can be made FDT to be readily absorbed. To increase solubility, inclusion with beta-cyclodextrin was performed. This study aims to determine the effect of superdisintegran on physical properties and drug release and to know the optimum proportion of superdisintegran that produces a high quality piroksikam FDT preparation. Superdisintegran used is croscarmellose sodium (acdisol) and crospovidon. FDT piroxicam made five formulas with variations of superdisintegran acdisol and crospovidon with a ratio of 1: 0, 0: 1, 0,49: 0,35, 0,25: 0,75, 0,75: 0,25. The tablets were made by direct compression method with an average weight of 200 mg. Performed physical tests and content then the data processed using software design expert® version 7 to get the optimum formula. The optimum formula test physical properties and content. The data obtained, ANOVA test to determine the difference of program prediction with practice result. The results of this study are more proportion of crospovidone better the physical properties and drug release and the optimum formula on FDT piroxicam is the formula with a acdisol ratio: crospovidon 1: 0.
