Abstract

Diabetes militus (DM) was classified as metabolic disease which has hyperglycemia characteristic caused different insulin secresion or the way insulin works or both of them. The increase of health cost each year made people need an alternative medical treatment which was not only effective but also efficient. The purpose of this research was analyze the effectiveness of diabetes militus patient medical treatment type 2 who used metformin and glimepiride. Research method in this paper was cross sectional by using secondary data in January-December 2016 period. The research used farmoeconomy method CEA/analysis of cost effectiveness. The data were taken by demography data, hospitalized duration, and amount of therapy cost based on direct medical cost. Statistical analysis was done by doing independent t-test. The research result showed the effectiveness of antidiabetes therapy oral metformin 63,16% and antidiabetes oral glimepiride 47,07%. The average of amount cost who used antidiabetes metformin was 2.452.084,then the total cost of patient who uses antidiabetes glimepiride was 2.860.399. People who used antidiabetes metformin was more cost effective by ACER price 38.823 compared to people who used antidiabetes glimepiride 60.769.
