Abstract
Schizophrenia is the most confusing and crippling clinical syndrome, It was a psychological disorder that attacks one's identity, Broked the close connection between thought and feeling and filled it with disturbed perceptions, wrong ideas, and illogical conceptions. The purpose of this study is to know the description of the use of antipsychotic drugs and the rationality of the use of antipsychotic drugs in patients with schizophrenia in the Inpatient Installation of Surakarta Regional Mental Hospital in 2015 based on certain of indication, certain of drug, certain of dosage and certain of patient. This research used the descriptive method it was non experimental with retrospective data retrieval from patient's record of schizophrenia with purposive sampling for sampling technique used and nonprobability sampling method it was sampling technique which did not give an opportunity for each element of the population to be selected as a sample. The result data then analyzed its rationality according to guideline Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach, Ninth Edtion.. Based on the results of the research, the most widely antipsychotic drug used for schizophrenia patients is risperidon with 88.2%, most antipsychotic monotherapy is risperidon with 40.8%, and the most antipsychotic drug combination is chrompromazine - risperidon with 56,6%. The rationality of the use of antipsychotics obtained 100% certain indication, 76% certain drug, 99,3% certain patient, 100% certain dosage.
