Abstract

Gastroenteritis is an inflammation caused by bacteria, viruses, and pathogens parasite in the area of stomach, small intestine and colon. Antibiotics that are used to attack microbal infection and kill or ihibit the growth of bacteria. This research aim to know the appopriate usage of antibiotics the acute gastroenteritis patients in Inpatient Installation at dr. Soeroto Ngawi District Hospital 2017. This is non experimental research. The research used retospective sampling to collected the data the analysed by using descriptive analysis. The sampling technique was purposive sampling. They were 74 samples that full fill the inclusion criteria, the criteria were pediatric and productive ages, acute gastroenteritis Inpatient on January untill Desember 2017, received antibiotics therapy without concomitant desease and having data of medical records. The result of this research showed that the type of antibiotics used are Ceftriaxon (35,15%), Ciprofloxacin (28,38%), Cefotaxim (20,27%), Metronidazole (12,16%), Levofloxacin (4,05%) and Tetracycline (4,05%). The Evaluation of appropriate usage of antibiotics are know for correct medications (100%), appropriate dosage (92,21%), appropriate route (100%) dan appropriate frequency (100%).
