Abstract

Duwet fruit is one of the fruit used as natural antidiabetes because it contains chemical compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins. This study aims to determine the effect of ethanol extract as antidiabetes, ability of duwet fruit ethanol extract to inhibiting necrosis of the pancreas in alloxan induced diabetic rats. This study used 30 rats divided into 6 groups, consisting of normal control, negative control, positive control, duwet fruit ethanol extract dose of 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kg BW, 400 mg/kg BW. All groups were given treatment for 14 days. Day 0 and 14th set blood glucose levels, on the 15th day rats more sacrifated, then dissected and taken pancreatic organs to be made histopathology preparations. Measured of blood glucose level by using glucose oxidase (GODPAP) methode. The results showed that duwet fruit ethanol extractdose of 100 mg/kg BW, 200 mg/kg BW, 400 mg/kg BW can lower blood glucose level and can inhibit necrosis in pancreas of alloxan induced diabetic rats.
