Abstract

Meloxicam is one of the NSAID drug who has an analgesic effects and inflammatory. Meloxicam has a low solubilty in water of 0,011 mg/ml so it was the reason to make nanoemulsion preparations with SNEDDS methods to improve drug bioavailability in the body because SNEDDS is a stable system. This research aims to obtain optimum formula on olive oil, surfactant tween 80 and cosurfactant selected in forming a stable SNEDDS in accordance with the characterization test of emulsification time, drug loading, and the transmittance percentage. The research uses fourteen formula who contain with a combination of olive oil, surfactant tween 80 and cosurfactant PEG 400 with SNEDDS methods and then examine with characterization of emulsification time, the determination of drug loading, and transmittance percentage to get an optimum formula. The determination optimum formula of the SNEDDS meloxicam is viewed by using Desain Expert version 7.1.5 Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) methods applications. The reluts showed that cosurfactant PEG 400 is dissolves meloxicam drug more easily than propylene glycol. Optimization results obtained an optimum formula which content 0,026 ml olive oil; 0,913 ml tween 80; and 0,061 ml PEG 400. Characterization test of emulsification time is 20,6 seconds; 26,52 ppm of drug loading; and 47,86% of transmittance percentage. Key words : Meloxicam, SNEDDS, Olive Oil, Tween 80, PEG 400
