Abstract

Natrium diclofenac is a NSAID class of drugs that have low water solubility and unpleasant taste. The weakness of Natrium diclofenac in conventional tablets is that geriatric patients have difficulty in swallowing the tablets, to overcome with these problems, an alternative FDT Natrium diclofenac in β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex is made. This research aims to determine the effect of superdisintegrant crosscarmellose sodium and crospovidone cl combination on the physical quality test of tablets and drug release on FDT Natrium diclofenac in the inclusion complex of β-cyclodextrin. The production of Natrium diclofenac inclusion complex in a βcyclodextrin with 1: 1.5 molar ratio using kneading method and characterized by FTIR and DSC. The variations in the concentrations of superdisintegrant croscarmellose sodium and crospovidone Cl 100: 0%, 75: 25%, 50: 50%, 25: 75%, 0: 100% in FDT Natrium diclofenac in the inclusion complex of βcyclodextrin using direct compression methods. The test is conducted to determine the physical quality of FDT Natrium diclofenac, that are hardness, friability, wetting time, disintegration time, taste test and dissolution. The result shows that the increase of Natrium diclofenac solubility is 15.04%. The increased of crospovidone cl gives a greater effect, because it can make porous tablets when in contact with water, so it is quickly wetted, when it is combined with lower sodium croscarmellose, it will decrease the wetting time into 16.83 seconds and the tablet's disintegration into 12 seconds. The combination of superdisintegrant croscarmellose sodium and crospovidone cl (25:75) can provide a qualified physical properties that fulfills the requirements of FDT Natrium diclofenac quality in the best inclusion complex of β-cyclodextrin.
