Abstract
This study was aimed to find out the relationship between group cohesiveness and social interaction in adolescent. Group cohesiveness is defined as a social interaction between solidarty/togetherness of member who have pull relationship and motivate so that it brings both positive and negative force inside to remain in the group and to have interdependence. Mean while, social interaction means two or more persons in which individual attitude affects as, changes, improves another or vice versa. The subject of this study was the students at age of 14-18 years of SMA N 8 Surakarta. The instruments used were social interaction scale and cohesiveness group scale. The social interaction scale was arranged based on the aspects proposed by Partowisastro (in Anggraini, 2010). While group cohesiveness scale, in this study was arraged based on the aspects proposed by Carron, Brawaley and Witmayer (2009). The data analysis used to test the hypothesis of the study was Pearson product moment correlation technique using windows release 20.0 program. The result of the analysis showed that the correlation coefficient (Rxy) obtadned was 0,680 with P = 0,000 ( p < 0,01). There fore the hypothesis proposed in this study was accepted with a very significant level it was conclude that there was a significant positive relationship between group cohesiveness and social interaction in adolescent. The higher group cohesiveness, the higher social interaction, and vice versa. Keyword: group cohesiveness, adolescent, social interaction.
