Abstract
Parkinsonism is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system due to reduced dopamine production in substansia nigra, one of which is caused by oxidative stress. Lemon peel contains flavonoids, saponins and essential oils. The flavonoid content of the lime peel can penetrate the blood brain barrier, and has properties as an antioxidant. This study aims to determine the activity of extract ethanol of lime peel (Citrus aurantifolia) in reducing the symptoms of Parkinson's in haloperidol-induced white rats. The antiparkinson test was performed on 35 mice divided into 7 groups, group I was given aquadest, group II was given CMC-Na 0.5%, group III was given levodopa 27 mg / kg bb, group IV was given vitamin E 180 IU / kg bb, V was extracted of lime peel 150 mg / kg bb, group VI was extracted of lime skin 300 mg / kg bb, and group VII was given lemon zinc extract 600 mg / kg bb. The whole group was induced with haloperidol at the 45th minute after treatment except in the healthy group. Each group was tested with catalepsy bar test and Rota rod test on days 0, 4, 7, 11, and 14. The result of catalepsy bar test showed that the activity of catalepsy decline decrease of ethanol extract of lime husk dose 150, 300, and 600 mg / kg bb respectively 35,14%, 48,14%, 57,17%. In rota rod test method showed the activity of% increase in time of latency respectively 14,09%, 28,25%, 39,92%. Dosage of lime skin extract is effective in reducing the symptoms of Parkinson's 150 mg / kg bb. Keywords: antiparkinsonism, lime peel extract, catalepsy bar test, rota rod test
