Abstract
Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by impaired communication, impaired social interaction and repetitive behaviors. The cause of autism may be triggered by the use of drugs one of them is valproic acid that can cause damage to the brain and functional neuro-anatomy of brain tissue associated with oxidative stress. Oba plants with antioxidant potential may be used as an alternative pengbatan. One of the plants mempuyai powerful antioxidants is green tea (Camellia sinensis (L.) The purpose of this study was to determine the ethanol extract of green tea leaves inhibits autism disorder in mice induced by valproic acid This study used 25 mice were divided into 5 groups, each group consisting of 5 mice Group I: normal control, group II: negative control (valproic acid 8 mg / 20 g bb), Group III, IV and V are the group treated with green tea leaf extract dose of 150 mg / kg, 300 mg / kg, and 450 mg / kg. Inducing with valproic acid performed in mice 14 days old, after age 15 to 35 were given green tea leaf extract appropriate dose group. Observations autism test is done by two methods: Repetitive behaviors (repetitive behavior) and intelligence. The results of the test Repetitive behaviors (repetitive behavior) and Intelligence indicates that green tea leaf extract dose of 300 mg / kg and 450 mg / kg can reduce the occurrence of autism disorders. Doses are on the decline is equivalent to a normal dose of 300 mg / kg. Keywords: green tea, valproic acid, repeitive behaviors, intelligence y-maze
