Abstract

Prevalence diabetes Type 2 is the most found around 95% of all diabetes. Various studies show that patient complianceto therapy of chronic diseases is very low. One effort to improve therapy compliance of patients by providing counseling. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of therapy compliance levels of patient before given counseling and, the effect of counseling totherapy compliance of diabetes mellitus type II patients in Puskesmas Karangpandan Kabupaten Karanganyar. This study was a quasi-experimental with The One Group Pretest-Posttest design method using 35 sampels of diabetes mellitus type II patient. Data were collected prospectively and analyzed with descriptive method. Compliance measurement was doneusing MMAS questionnaire. The results showed from 35 patients 86% had low compliance levels before have given counseling. Based on the results of Paired t-test there was significant difference between compliance before and after counseling (P=0.000<0,005) suggest that counseling significantly increase compliance.ChiSquare Test showed compliance significantly affect to decrease of blood sugar levels(P = 0.00 <0.05). The conclusion of compliance before given counseling was very low, and there was effect between counseling to compliance.
