Abstract

Pyrantel pamoate is an anthelmintic drugs and effective for the treatment of infections caused by intestinal worms. Pyrantel drug included biopharmaceutical classification system ( BCS ) class II with high permeability but a low solubility properties. It is available commercially in the preparation of generic and innovator, and therefore caused the different formulations and methods of fabrication.This study aims to determine the physical quality and pyrantel pamoate dissolution profile of generic and innovator. Test products using the two products pyrantel pamoate 125 mg tablets on the market , that one product innovators (OI) and the first generic products (OG). Dissolution testing using dissolution apparatus type 2 (paddle) rotation speed of 50 rpm in 900 ml of the dissolution medium. Dissolution medium is used HCl buffer pH 1.2, citrate buffer pH 4.5 and phosphate buffer pH 6,8. The dissolution assay using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a wavelength of 289 nm (citrate buffer pH 4.5 and phosphate buffer ph 6,8) and a wavelength of 309 nm (HCl buffer pH 1.2) . Results of research for the parameters Q45 , DE45 , F1 and F2 showed two products produce different grades . Q45 value , DE45 , F1 and F2 OI is higher than OG, but both products are equally standard compliant drugs. Keywords : Pyrantel pamoate, BCS II, dissolution, simmilary factor (F2).
