Abstract

Cetirizin hydrochloride is a drug antagonist H1 receptors are used in seasonal allergic rhinitis, allergic rhinitis and chronic urticaria throughout the year. Cetirizin soluble in water and bitter. Cetirizin hydrochloride prepared in dosage Orally Disintegrating tablets (ODT) which can be destroyed quickly by liquid saliva without the need of water and can provide immediate effect. This research aims to optimize the effect of the combination Strach 1500 and Avicel PH 102 as filler - binder on the physical properties of tablets and drug release with the simplex lattice design. The study was conducted using three variations formula strach 1500 and Avicel PH 102. Tablets made by the method of direct felts and conducted testing of the physical properties of powders, tablets and drug release. The simplex lattice design was applied to optimize the tablet. Determining formula the desirability optimum contour plot of the parameters of hardness, friability, disintegration time in vitro, DE30 and the amount of drug released for 5 minutes using Design Expert 7.1.5 software. The results showed that the most dominant Avicel PH 102 can increase drug release as compared strach 1500. The interaction between a combination strach 1500 and Avicel PH 102 as filler-binder can increase disintegration time and drug release. Based on the desirability contour plot obtained optimum formula ODT Cetirizin hydrochloride tablets in combination with Avicel PH 102 amounted to 122,548 mg with strach components in 1500 amounted to 15,451 mg.
