Abstract
Typhoid fever was a systemic infectious disease caused by the bacillus Samonella thypi. The disease was often found in urban and rural areas. MDRTF was a common problem that found in the use of antibiotics on typhoid fever treatment, therefore the selection of alternative antibiotics was a main factors to be considered in addition to cost constraints. This study was aimed to determine the cost effectiveness between ceftriaxone and cefotaxime injections were used in the typhoid fever treatment in dr. Soehadi Prijonegoro Sragen District Hospital. This research was conducted using the Pharmacoeconomics CostEffectiveness Analysis (CEA) method. This study were analyzed using secondary data of typhoid fever patients on January-December 2014 period. The data include demographic data, length of stay and total cost. The results showed that the injection of ceftriaxone therapy group class I and III were more cost-effective with a ACER value IDR 1,442,909 and IDR 1,004,695 compared with cefotaxime injection therapy group class I and III, with ACER value IDR 2,133,191 and IDR 1,414,593. So, ceftriaxone more cost effective than cefotaxime. Key words: Cost Effectiveness Analysis, antibiotic, typhoid fever, ceftriaxone, cefotaxime
