Abstract
Methyl eugenol has derived from eugenol known as chemical compounds to fruit fly sex attractant Docus dorsalis or compound called pheromones. Methyl eugenol has a uncolored liquid, distinctive aroma, soluble in most organic solvents, in soluble in water and flammable. The fruit fly has pest in agricultured post harvest. The aim from this research were synthesis methyl eugenol by the methylation reactions used an alkhylating agent dimethyl sulphate (DMS) with KOH catalyst at temperature variations and maked modifications trap to male fruit fly more than effectivenes. This research begins reacting eugenol with dimethyl sulphate (DMS) on KOH catalyst at variation temperature variations to maked methyl eugenol. Methyl eugenol analyzed used the gas chromatography, IR spectroscopy, 1HNMR spectroscopy and activity test in garden fruit used the modification trap for fruit fly. The result from this research were methyl eugenol can synthesized used dimethyl sulphate (DMS) on KOH catalyst with temperature variations. Temperature 8 oC resulted methyl eugenol 0,7 mL with purity of 63,33% . the result from IR and 1H-NMR spectroscopy showed the compound methyl eugenol.
