Abstract

Giving birth through sectio caesarea has increased concomitant with the incidence of post surgical wound infection. The treatment during sectio caesarea are antibiotic use before and after surgery. Antibiotic is group of medicine that used to prevent infection. This study aims to describe the use of antibiotic prophylaxis in patients sectio caesarea compared with their hospital formulary and WHO Recommendations for the prevention and treatment of infections maternal peripartum. This research was a descriptive study with retrospective data collection. Samples were sectio caesare patients who received antibiotic prophlaxis in Triharsi Hospital in Surakarta in 2014 until 2015. The sampling technique was a total sampling method. The results showed that prophylactic antibiotics use in 2014 until 2015 included the class of cephalosporins, which were ceftriaxone (terfacef), cefotaxime (taxecap and taxegram). Cephalosporin is a class of antibiotic that widely used as a prophylactic antibiotics based WHO recomemendations for the prevention and treatment of maternal peripartum infections (84,4%) and based on the hospital formulary (81,2%).
