Abstract

Typhoid fever is a disease caused by the bacterium Salmonella typhi. Until now typhoid fever remains a health problem in tropical countries, including Indonesia. Management of typhoid fever therapy with antibiotics and typhoid fever therapy success depands on careful use of antibiotics. The main objective of this research is to know the correct use of antibiotic in adult patients with typhoid fever inpatient instalation Islamic Surakarta Period January – May 2015. The study is non eksperimental research with retrospective data collection, and analyzed descriptively and retrievel of data by purposive sampling. The data taken at adult patients (18-65 years) suffered from typhoid fever without other infectious disease. Data included in the criteria for inclusion as many as 56 cases. Data analyzed according to the concept of right indication, right medication, right dosage, and right patient then compared to Clinical Practice Guideline of The Minister of Health in 2014. The result of this research show the most widely used antibiotics is ceftriaxone 80,35%. Precision analysis of antibiotic use includes the right indication at 100%, right medication 89,29%, right dosage 10,71%, and right patient 100%. And the suitability of the use antibiotics with hospital formulary VII edition 2015 at 100% and with Clinical Practice Guideline of The Minister of Health in 2014 at 83,33%.
