Abstract
Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) is an infection that found in the upper respiratory tract and lower respiratory tract. The high prevalence of ARI leading to high consumption of antibiotic. Improper of antibiotic use may increase in bacterial resistance and increase in side effects. The purpose of this study was to analyze suitability of right drug, right dose and right indications, lenght of usage of antibiotic based on Guideline of Dipiro 2008. This research was cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection. The data collection from medical records of ARI inpatients at Purwodadi Hospital from January 1st 2013- December 31th 2013. Data analyze using univariate analysis in form of frequency distribution and percentage of each variable. The results showed that antibiotics used in ARI inpatient of Purwodadi Hospital in 2013 were amoxicillin, ciprofloxacin, sefadroxil, sefotaxime, Levofloxacin, and combination of amoxicillin-asamklavulanat. Based on indicator of appropriate indication the whole patient was appropriate, indicator of appropriate dose 146 patients was appropriate and 14 patients was inappropriate, indicator of length of use 100 patients was appropriate and 60 patients was inappropriate.
