Abstract
Rambutan (Nephelium lappaceum L.) plant, one of medical plants for the healing therapy of infection bacteria, especially Staphylococcus aureus infection, because it has contents of flavonoid, saponin, tanin, and polifenol that are able to give an antibacterial effect. This research aimed at knowing the ointment preparation which had been made had a good physical quality, knowing the activity and most effective concentration from ointment preparation ethanolic extract of rambutan leaves as a healer Staphylococcus aureus infection. The method used was maceration with the 96% ethanolic solvent, therefore, it was obtained the ethanolic extract of rambutan leaves. The formulas ointment rambutan leaves extract were made with three concentrations: 5%, 10%, and 15% mixed with hydrocarbon basis used for the test of healer of Staphylococcus aureus infection. The parameters observed were the duration of healing, and the amount Staphylococcus aureus bacteria colony from the pus. The data obtained were analyzed used one-way ANOVA (significance p<0.05). The results of research showed that ointment ethanolic extract of rambutan leaves with the hydrocarbon basis resulted in the ointment preparation with a good physical quality. Ointment rambutan leaves extract at concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15% have a healing activity as Staphylococcus aureus infection, and at a concentration of 10% showed optimal results in curing the infection comparable to the positive control as a parameter. Statistically, if being viewed from the duration healing, FII and FIII with a positive control not significan different.
