Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease marked by hyperglycemia causes abnormality insulin secretion, insulin activity or both. Diabetes mellitus require therapy continuouslly and lifetime insulin to reduce the risk of mortality, so the important factor of successfull therapy is compliance. In this case pharmacist have role to provide counseling to improve patient compliance through prolanis activity. This study was undertaken to knows pictured on adherence parameters rate and to know the effect of counseling to compliance of diabetes mellitus type 2 patients at Karangmalang Primary Health Care, Sragen. The method used in this study was quasi-experimental. Measurement of patient compliance using MMAS-8 (Morisky Medication adherence Scale) questionnaire. Scores of patient compliance were analyzed using Paired Sample T-Test. Factors that affect therapy compliance in diabetes mellitus type 2 patient were analyzed using Chi Square. The results of therapy compliance in diabetes mellitus type 2 patient in Karangmalang Primary Health Care, Sragen, after counseling showed that 19% patients had high levels of compliance, 69% patients had moderate levels of compliance and 12% patients had low levels of compliance. The results were analyzed by paired t-test showed that wre significant differences (p<0,05) MMAS-8 before and after counseling. Keywords: counseling, diabetes mellitus, compliance, MMAS-8
