Abstract

Malaria is a plasmodium parasite infection that transmitted by the bite ofan Anopheles mosquito. Use of repellents to prevent mosquito bites may provide important protection from Malaria carriers. Contain chemicals of Plumeria acuminata such as flavonoid, tannin, saponin, and essential oils have been reported on repellent action. The study was conducted to evaluate the repellent activity of the Plumeria acuminata flowers extracts, infus, and oil against Anopheles aconitus. Kamboja’s extract made by maseration with etanol 70% as a solvent, dried flowers to make an infus, and oil is obtained from hot fat maseration against fresh flowers. The effective dose estimate of Plumeria acuminata flowers extracts, infus, and oil repellency tests were carried out following procedures clothing repellent that applied as spray product to the black fabric. Effective dose for percent protection 50% (ED50) against Anopheles aconitus were calculated by probit statistic. The result showed that Plumeria acuminata flowers extracts, infus, and oil showed repellent action against Anopheles aconitus with a values of ED50 were 0,5648% for extracts, 2,9714 % for infus dan 0,6396% for oil. The highest values of repellent action is extracts with a values of ED50 were 0,5648%. Keywords: Plumeria acuminata flowers, Anopheles aconitus, repellent, effective dose.
