Abstract

Excess cholesterol levels in the body could increase the risk heart disease. Disorder cardiovascular diseases it is because of the LDL being oxidized so formed arterosklerosis. The provision of compound flavonoid that is in the leaves guava as antioxidant indispensable to hinder oxidation reaction. Research aims to understand effect sari and extract leaves guava on the decline of cholesterol levels total and heavy fat the abdomen mice white who were given a diet high fat. Guava leaf supplied in the form of juice and extract. Sari is the result of soaking the slices of guava leaf extract whereas gin is the result of maceration using gin concentrated in the oven. Test animals given high-fat diet for three (3) weeks to mice undergoing hyperlipidemia. Juice and extract with dose variation: sari I 60 mg/200 g BB, sari II 120 mg/200 g BB, sari III 240 mg/200 g BB and extract the I 10 mg/200 g BB, extract II 20 mg/200 g BB, extract III 40 mg/200 g BB given for two (2) weeks after administration of a high-fat diet. The level of total cholesterol done on day 0, day 21 after the administration of high-fat diet and the 36th day after the administration of drugs. 37th day surgery and abdominal fat after weighing the mice were fasted for one day. The results showed that the form of juice at a dose of 60 mg/200 g BB, 120 mg/200 g BB, 240 mg/200 g BB and extract at a dose of 10 mg/200 g BB, 20 mg/200 g BB, 40 mg/200 g BB can lower both total cholesterol and abdominal fat weight in rats induced by high-fat diet.
