Abstract

Hypertriglyceridemic is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Hypertriglyceridemia occurs due to increased levels of triglycerides can lead to accumulation of lipids in the walls of arteries that can lead to atherosclerosis. Jamblang leaf (Syzygium cumini (L.) Skeels) is a plant that can be used a drug to lower levels of triglyseride. This research aim to understand the effect of the provision of an ethanol extract leaves jamblang to a decrease in leves of triglyserida are considerably given the effectiveness of a diet high in fat and dosage. This study used 30 male white rats aged 2-3 months weigth150-200 grams were divided into 6 treatment groups. Ethanol extract of leaves jamblang and than tasted in each group with a dose of 100 mg/200 g BW, 200 mg/200 g BW, 400 mg/200 g BW. Normal group, the group hypertrigliseridemia given a diet high fat. Treatment done for 28 days. The effects of the decline in levels of triglyserides can be seen from the provision ethanol extract of leaves jamblang in reducing levels of triglyceride for 14 days. From the three varying doses of jamblang leave ethanol extract on the day28, it could be found that dose 400 mg/200 g BW lowered triglyseride levels more effectively because there was no significant difference of this dose from positive control.
