Abstract
Rind of ambon banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum) was contain flavonoid, steroid, triterpenoid that thought had an antibacterial activity. This study was aimed to knowing about activity of n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, water fraction, and fraction of ambon banana rind (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum) as an antibacterial to Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. Extraction of ambon banana rind (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum) was use maceration method with ethanol 96% as a solvent, then for fractionated use nhexane, ethyl acetate, and water as a solvent. The result of extraction and fractionation need test about antibacterial activity to Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 with diffusion method, to know the most active fraction and inhibition diameter. The concentration of extracts and fractions was use for diffusion test are 50%; 25%; and 12,5%. The dilution test from the result of diffusion test was use for determine the MBC (Minimum Bactericidal Concentration), with concentrations 50%; 25%; 12,5%; 6,2%; 3,1%; 1,5%; 0,7%; 0,3%; 0,1%; 0,09%, to Escherichia coli ATCC 25922. The results of diffusion test showed that fraction of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, water and extract had antibacterial activity to Escherichia coli with the optimum concentration each 50%; 25%; 12,5%, and n-hexane fraction had the most active antibacterial activity. The result of KLT test to n-hexane fraction showed that a chemical compound is flavonoid, steroid, and triterpenoid. The result of dilution test showed that the optimum KBM is 12,5%.
