Abstract

Smoking behavior can give negative effect to the smokers. However, smoking behavior still can be found frequently among the adolescent. One of the reason why the smoking behavior can happen is the influence of the surrounding environment and peers. The adolescents adaptation towards smoker environment makes them to be fit to it. This meants that smoker environment demands them to have a smoke in order to be accepted to their environments. This research aims to find out the relationship between conformity and smoking behavior of adolescents in Desa Legoksari, Kec.Tlogomulyo, Kab.Temanggung. The hypothesis that is proposed is the existence of the positive relationship between conformity and smoking behavior. This study use quantitative method. The subjects of this study were 77 male, aged 15-21 years, and smokers. They were selected by purposive sampling. This study were done toward Scale Conformity and Scale of Smoking Behavior. The method used to data analysis were correlation product moment from Pearson by SPSS 23.0 for window release. The result showed that correlation r = 0,351 with p = 0,002 (p = <0,05). That approve there was positive relationship between conformity and smoking behavior in adolescents. Keyword : conformity and smoking behavior
