Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is a situation in which an increase of cholesterol concentration in the blood, characterized by a decrease in the value in HDL value or increase LDL. This research aims to understand the effect of ethanol extract of mulberry leaves on the increase in HDL levels and know an inhibitory from cell formation on white male mice wistar strain induced aterogenic diet. This study using 30 male wistar rats. One group given the normal diet and five groups were given rats aterogenic for a month. Treatment given for 14 days. Group I as a normal. Diet group II as negative control, group III as positive control group. Groups of IV, V, VI were given ethanol extract of mulberry leaves with a dose of 25 mg /200 g bw, 50 mg /200 g bw, and 100 mg /200 g bw respectively. All rats measured HDL level before and after treatment since day 0th, 28th, 35th, and 42th. The analysis used in this research was Two Way ANOVA advanced with the Tukey. The results dose of 100 mg the extract preparation mulberry leaves of the most effective can increase HDL levels and dose of 25 mg, 50 mg, and 100 mg could hinder cell formation on the wall of the aorta foam.
