Abstract
Infections of the respiratory tract is a common disease in the community. This infection is one of the leading cause of death in infans and the second leading cause infant death following perinatal. Respiratory infection by area of infection is divided into upper respiratory tract infection and lower respiratory tract infection. The infection is generally treated with antibiotics. This study aimed to analyze the use and suitability of antibiotics in patients with upper respiratory tract infection insurance in This research was conducted with the draft descriptive and retrospective data collection through medical records. Data were analyzed descriptively to determine the patient 's profile and the profile of the use of antibiotics,and analytical study was conducted to determine the suitability of the use of antibiotics in patients with upper respiratory tract infections with the National Formulary, Formularies PKMS and Pharmacotherapy Principles and practice of 2009. The results showed that the antibiotics used on patients with upper respiratory tract infections are Cefadroxil 70.49 %, 3.28% Cefixim, Erytromicin 18.03 %, Azitromicin 3.28%, 1.64 % Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin 1.64 % . This study shows the use of antibiotics in accordance with FORNAS , Formulary PKMS and Guideline. Use of appropriate antibiotic 100 % indication, 100 % right patient, the right dose of 55.03 %, and 41,67 % exact duration and 100% of the appropriate frequency .
