Abstract
Stachytarpheta jamicensis (L) Vahl is a medicinal plant traditionally used by the Indonesian community to treat various diseases including fluour albus, infection throat, cough and rheumatism This research was conducted to determine the antifungal activity of n - hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction against Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Then, the research showed more active fraction inhibition of Candida albicans. Stachytarpheta jamicensis extracted by soxhlet method with 70 % ethanol, and then fractionated for different solvents polarity level, the results of fractionation test antifungal activity against Candida albicans ATCC 10231 used diffusion and dilution methods. Fraction concentration diffusion method was used for 75 % with purpose research fraction for the best, but dilution method purpose MIC. Dilution Concentration used for dilution method was 25 %, 12.5 %, 6.25 %, 3.12 %, 1.56 % , 0.78 %, 0.39 %. The research showed that water, ethyl acetate fraction and extract ethanol concentration 75% showed antifungal activity by the average diameter of inhibition 30 mm, 40 mm, 24,67 mm. the n-hexane fraction consentration 75% didn’t have antifungal activity. Ethyl acetate fraction is more active fraction. Dilution test ethyl acetate fraction showed the most active antifungal activity to Candida albicans ATCC 10231 with a minimum fungicidal concentration is a 6.25%.
