Abstract

Organic rice is rice grown by utilizing organic or natural ingredients as input and not using artificial fertilizer and pesticides except for permitted materials. In 2015 found fake organic rice containing chlorine and other harmful ingredients in Prima, Daan Mogot and Kosambi, West Jakarta. The purpose of this study was to identify the presence of chlorine and to know the amount of chlorine in organic rice circulating in supermarkets and markets located in the city of Surakarta, Central Java and to determine the difference in chlorine levels in organic rice circulating in Supermarkets with organic rice circulating in the Market located in the city of Surakarta, Central Java. The method used in this research is the method of color reaction as a qualitative test and spectrophotometric method as a quantitative test. In spectrophotometric method the tool used is spectrofotmeter UV-Vis. The results of this study obtained the average chlorine levels in organic rice samples in traditional markets X in A samples of 9.78 mg / L, samples B 6.26 mg / L and C samples of 4.96 mg / L. Chlorine levels on organic rice samples in traditional Y market in sample D were 0.57 mg / L, E sample was 1.32 mg / L, and F sample was 0.73 mg / L. Chlorine content on organic rice sample at supermarket X in G sample was 1.23 mg / L, H sample was 0.75 mg / L and sample I was 0.65 mg / L. And chlorine level on organic rice samples at supermarket Y in J samples of 1.08 mg / L, in K samples of 0.97 mg / L and in L samples of 0.75 mg / L.
