Abstract
Rumput teki (Cyperus rotundus L.) contain flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and sesquiterpenes which have antifungal activity. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of 96% ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and the water fraction of the puzzle grass against the growth of Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Rumput teki was extracted by maceration method using 96% ethanol solvent, then fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and water solvents. The results of extraction and fractionation were tested for antifungal activity using diffusion method with a concentration of 10%, 5% and 2.5% and the dilution method with a concentration of 10%, 5%, 2.5%, and 1.25%. The positive control used was ketoconazole and negative control tween 5%. The results of the antifungal activity test were analyzed by one way ANOVA method. The results of the puzzle grass study showed n-heksana fractions, etil asetat, and extracts had antifungal activity. The results of inhibitory zone diameter of extract, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate fractions for 50% concentration were 23 mm, 14 mm, and 16 mm. 50% ethyl acetate fraction is the most active fraction with a minimum inhibitory concentration of 25%, and minimum killing concentration of extract and etil asetat fractions 25% and 50%.
