Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country with low awareness of the importance of health. One of health problems for Indonesian population is worm infestation. Main prevalence occurring in under-five and elementary school age groups. Human being is host pest of some intestine nematode and some Soil Transmitted Helminths including Trichuris trichiura and Hookworm. To find out the presence of Trichuris trichiura and Hookworm egg the direct feces examination was conducted using Eosin 2% solution. The research design used was an observational descriptive (descriptive survey) one, the research describe a condition objectively without recognizing the causal relationship. The sample examined was feces of the 2nd graders in SD N I Tambakboyo Pedan Klaten. This research was taken place in the Laboratory of Setia Budi University of Surakarta from December to January 2016. From the examination of 20 samples, it could be found that 2 samples (10%) was positive containing Hookworm egg and negative Trichuris trichiura egg (0) and 18 samples (90%) contained no Hookworm and Trichuris trichiura eggs. It occurred because of sufficiently good awareness of health and cleanliness. Keywords: Hookworm and Trichuris trichiura eggs, direct feces examination.
